Tapestry Workshop – 25/04/2026, 10am – 4pm
Elin Huws graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1999 with a first-class degree in Tapestry and completed her master’s degree at the same university in 2001. She has since returned to North Wales where she creates tapestry weavings inspired by the landscapes, seascapes and poetry of Wales. Elin s work is metaphorical rather than a direct translation of the landscape exploring memory and her feelings towards a place.
In this one-day workshop you will work on your own tapestry inspired by a landscape of your choice and will use the inherent qualities of yarns to investigate depth and tone, stillness and movement. The workshop will introduce traditional materials of a cotton warp and wool weft, as well as the basic skills involved in creating a woven tapestry. Experimenting with a range of techniques. This course is suitable for beginners or those who wish to further develop their weaving techniques.
